Eaton NX Fuse Replacement: DENCO DNX Clip-Style Current-Limiting Fuses
DENCO's DNX is the DENCO counterpart to Eaton's Cooper Power series NX clip-style current-limiting fuse. It is made in the same voltage classes, from 4.3 to 38 kV, plus a 2.8 kV size, for 5/8 inch clip mountings. Find your Eaton FA catalog number below to see the DENCO DNX class, then send it to DENCO for a quote.

Eaton sells the NX under its Cooper Power series, and some distributors list it under Eaton Bussmann. The catalog number on the fuse identifies it: the FA prefix gives the voltage class (FA1H 4.3 kV, FA2H 5.5 kV, FA3H 8.3 kV, FA4H 15.5 kV, FA5H 23 kV, FA9H 27 kV, FA10H 38 kV), and the digits after it give the continuous current.
DENCO numbers the DNX by voltage class in the same way: DNX4, DNX5, DNX8, DNX15, DNX23, DNX27 and a 38 kV size. The DENCO catalog prints DNX ratings as C numbers within each class. Send DENCO the Eaton number and DENCO engineering confirms the DNX rating, body diameter and mounting for your clips.

Matching the mounting
Eaton marks each NX fuse with a mounting code number (4, 5, 6, 9 or 10) that sets the clip spacing and insulation level, and the fuse and mount codes must match. The diameter changes within a voltage class too: 1-1/8, 2 or 3-7/16 inch. Give DENCO the catalog number, or the mounting code and the fuse length and diameter, and DENCO matches the DNX body to your clips.
The DENCO DNX range
As printed on p.72 of the DENCO catalog:
- Current-limiting, clip style, 2.8 kV to 38 kV
- 50 kA interrupting rating (asymmetrical, as the DENCO catalog prints it)
- Threaded end studs also available
- The fuse melts in 1000 seconds at a current between 1.7 and 2.4 times its C number
Why buyers switch

- Direct contact with DENCO engineering, in Miami, Florida
- Manufactured in an ISO 9001:2015 certified facility
- Custom ratings and one-off fuses for equipment that is no longer supported
Frequently asked questions
Does DENCO make a replacement for the Eaton NX fuse?
Yes. The DENCO DNX is DENCO's clip-style current-limiting fuse in the same voltage classes as the Eaton Cooper Power series NX, from 4.3 to 38 kV. Send the Eaton FA catalog number and DENCO confirms the DNX rating and dimensions before quoting.
Is the NX a Bussmann or a Cooper Power fuse?
Eaton publishes the NX under its Cooper Power series. Some distributors list NX parts under Eaton Bussmann. The FA catalog number on the fuse is what identifies it.
What does FA3H40 mean?
FA3H is the 8.3 kV NX clip-style fuse and 40 is the continuous current in amperes. The DENCO counterpart is in the DNX8 class.
What lead time does DENCO quote?
DENCO quotes a 30-day lead time on all products.
Send us the number on your fuse
The Eaton catalog number, the quantity and the maximum ambient temperature at the installation are enough to start. DENCO engineering confirms the DENCO part, dimensions and mounting before quoting, and a photograph of the label helps.
